About IHT : 
It was established in 1963 by the then East Pakistan Government. It is situated in central area of Dhaka City at Mohakhali Health Complex beside ICDDR, B. When it was established, the name of this institution was Paramedical institute.

Initially it was started by only one course named as Sanitary Inspectorships Training (SIT) with only 30 students. In the year 1980, the former name of this institution was changed into Institute of Health Technology and started Diploma in Medical Technology courses in different discipline as Laboratory, Physiotherapy, Radiotherapy, Radiology, Pharmacy and Dental under State Medical Faculty.

B.Sc. in Physiotherapy and B. Sc. in Heath Technology (Laboratory) Courses were started n the year 2009 under the University of Dhaka.

Institute of Health Technology (IHT) situated on 9.3 acres of land with boundary wall around the academic buildings, hostel building, teachers and staff quaters. The institute is located in a silent zone in Dhaka city. The internal roads are well constructed and large number of coconut trees is on the side of internal roads. Flower gardens of different discipline have created an extra natural beauty which easily attracts the visitors, newcomers and passers-by.  

Mission:
This Institute was built for create more & more Medical Technologist
To ensure internationally ­ recognized healthcare services. Increases the capacity of the existing institutions by ensuring qualified and sufficient teachers and support staffs, modern equipments, furniture and others essential items, which will individually provided more available seat for students.

Hostels :
There are three hostels In IHT. Two building for boys hostel and other one is for girls hostel. Superintendent of Hostels- Dr. Jalal Ahmed (Principal)

Computer Lab : 
The Computer Lab is developing day by day. There are many computers for practicing practical classes for the students of computer science subject.
There are another 15 computer will be added in this lab for taking smoothly practical classes for 2nd year students of all departments of Diploma programs and also for the students of BSc in Radiology and Imagine.
