Short Discription About IHT, Dhaka

প্রশাসনিক ভবন

About IHT : 
It was established in 1963 by the then East Pakistan Government. It is situated in central area of Dhaka City at Mohakhali Health Complex beside ICDDR, B. When it was established, the name of this institution was Paramedical institute.

Initially it was started by only one course named as Sanitary Inspectorships Training (SIT) with only 30 students. In the year 1980, the former name of this institution was changed into Institute of Health Technology and started Diploma in Medical Technology courses in different discipline as Laboratory, Physiotherapy, Radiotherapy, Radiology, Pharmacy and Dental under State Medical Faculty.

B.Sc. in Physiotherapy and B. Sc. in Heath Technology (Laboratory) Courses were started n the year 2009 under the University of Dhaka.

Institute of Health Technology (IHT) situated on 9.3 acres of land with boundary wall around the academic buildings, hostel building, teachers and staff quaters. The institute is located in a silent zone in Dhaka city. The internal roads are well constructed and large number of coconut trees is on the side of internal roads. Flower gardens of different discipline have created an extra natural beauty which easily attracts the visitors, newcomers and passers-by.

This Institute was built for create more & more Medical Technologist
To ensure internationally ­ recognized healthcare services. Increases the capacity of the existing institutions by ensuring qualified and sufficient teachers and support staffs, modern equipments, furniture and others essential items, which will individually provided more available seat for students.

The Computer Lab is developing day by day. There are many computers for practicing practical classes for the students of computer science subject.
There are another 15 computer will be added in this lab for taking smoothly practical classes for 2nd year students of all departments of Diploma programs and also for the students of BSc in Radiology and Imagine.

It is my great pleasure to express a few words about Institute of Health Technology (IHT). Health is one of the major basic needs of the people. Skilled health cadres are lacking in our country, which cannot fulfill the health demand of our large population.
The Institute of Health Technology (IHT) Dhaka is one of the pioneer Government Medical Technology institutions in Bangladesh . At present the government needs of similar kinds of health institutions inthe other parts of the country and has increased the number of institutes and has give particular emphasis to decentralize such types of institutes at marginal level of Bangladesh . The demand for qualitymedical technologist continues to grow; technical skilled profession offers a tremendous variety of career paths and opens wide range of opportunities both in public and private sectors in the country. Moreover there is a growing demand for technically skilled cadresabroad.
I hope this institute would be the centre for excellence for producing skilled health professionals.
We do welcome others to visit our institute and provide suggestions for improvements of the institute as the ideal one in this country and South East region.

মেডিকেল টেকনোলজী সম্পর্কিত কিছু তথ্য:

১৷ ল্যাবরেটরী মেডিসিন/প্যাথলজী:

রোগীর রোগনির্ণয়েরক্ষেত্রে একজন ল্যাব টেকনোলজিস্ট অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ন ভূমিকা পালন করে থাকে। যক্ষা, কুষ্ঠ সহ বিভিন্ন মারাত্বক রোগ ল্যাবরেটরী টেকনোলজিস্টরা নির্ণয় করেন।
এছাড়া Blood, Urine, Stool, Sputum সহবিভিন্ন প্রকার পরীক্ষায় ল্যাব টেকনোলজিষ্টদের ভূমিকা অনস্বীকার্য।
কোর্সশেষ করার পর ল্যাব টেকনোলজিষ্টদের জন্য রয়েছে সরকারীসহ বিভিন্ন বেসরকারী হাসপাতালে কাজের অনবদ্য সুযোগ।

২৷ ফার্মেসি :
হেলথ সায়েন্স ও কেমিক্যাল সায়েন্সের ঠিকমাঝামাঝি জায়গায় ফার্মেসি বিষয়টার অবস্থান।
এবং এই একটা পেশায় একজন ফার্মেসিস্টেরদায়িত্ব নিয়ম মত ঔষধের ব্যবহার নির্দিষ্ট করা।
তাছাড়া ক্লিনিক্যাল প্রাকটিস মেডিসিন রিকিউ এবং ড্রাগ ইনফরমেশনের মত সেবামুলক পেশার মধ্যই পড়ে।

৩৷ ফিজিওথেরাপী :
শারিরীকভাবে অক্ষম,দূর্ঘটনা কবলিত ও প্যারালাইসিস রোগিদের ক্ষেত্রে ফিজিওথেরাপী টেকনোলজিস্টগণ বিভিন্ন ধরনের চিকিৎসা দিয়ে থাকেন।
এরা সরকারী চাকুরীর পাশাপাশি ব্যক্তিগতভাবে ফিজিওথেরাপী সেন্টার স্থাপন করতে পারেন।
ফিজিওথেরাপিস্টগণ যে সমস্ত রোগের Consult করে থাকেন- Stroke, Back Pain, Neek Pain, Posture Problem, Joint or Muscle Pain, Arthritis, Breathing Problem  যেমন Asthma সহ ইত্যাদি।

৪৷ রেডিওথেরাপী:
ঘাতক ব্যাধিক্যান্সারের আক্রান্ত রোগীদের জীবণের
স্বাভাবিকতা আনয়নে রেডিওথেরাপীস্টগণ অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ন ভূমিকারাখেন।

৫৷ রেডিওগ্রাফী: 
এরা বিভিন্ন ধরনের এক্স রে করে থাকেন ৷ যেমন:  X-ray, MRI, CT-Scan ইত্যাদি ৷

৬৷ ডেন্টিস্ট্রি : 

মুখ ও দাঁতের বিভিন্ন সমস্যা সমাধানে ডেন্টাল টেকনোলজীস্টগণ গুরুত্বপূর্ণ সেবা প্রদান করেন। তারা প্রধানত দাঁত বাঁধানো, উঠানো, স্কেলিং, ফিলিং, RCT ইত্যাদি করে থাকেন। 

এরা সরকারি চাকুরির পাশাপাশি ব্যক্তিগতভাবে দন্ত্য চিকিৎসা কেন্দ্র স্থাপন করতে পারেন।

আই এইচ টি তে ভর্তি সংক্রান্ত নিয়মাবলী

ভর্তি পদ্ধতি (ডিপ্লোমা) :

প্রত্যেক বছর এস.এস.সি পরীক্ষার ফল প্রকাশের পর স্বাস্থ্য মন্ত্রণালয়ের আওতাধীন স্বাস্থ্য অধিদপ্তর থেকে বিজ্ঞপ্তি দেয়া হয়। জিপিএ-২.৫ পেয়ে বিজ্ঞান বিভাগে পাশ করা থাকলে আবেদন করতে পারবে। পরবর্তীতে ভর্তি পরীক্ষায়, MCQ System (Absolute Fair and Secured Condition) এ ভর্তি হয়ে থাকে ।

ভর্তি পদ্ধতি (বি.এস.সি):
প্রত্যেক বছর এইচ.এস.সি পরীক্ষার ফল প্রকাশের পর ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের অধীনে স্বাস্থ্য অধিদপ্তরের অনুমতি সাপেক্ষে অধ্যক্ষের মাধ্যেম ভর্তি বিজ্ঞপ্তি দেয়া হয়। MCQ System-এ নির্ভেজালভাবে ভর্তি পরীক্ষা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। এইচ.এস.সি পাশ ছাত্র-ছাত্রীদের জন্য আলাদা প্রশ্ন এবং ডিপ্লোমা সরকারি/বেসরকারীদের জন্য আলাদা প্রশ্নপত্রের মাধ্যমে পরীক্ষা নেয়া হয় ।

Conditions for Admission:

1. Qualifications & prerequisite:

SSC Science or equivalent with Science with Physics & Chemistry.

Candidate has to secure 2nd division or GPA 2.5 in the SSC examination. Candidate passed S.S.C. exam current year or previous three years or as decided by the authority for each year of admission.

2. Current SSC & Previous 3 years, Examinations for Entrance/Admission Test:

All candidates are to sit for admission tests through prescribed rules and examination method as specified in the advertisement.

Selection of the candidates will be done on merit basis as based on marks obtained in the admission test.

Despite the general merit in consideration for selection the reserved quota for different groups of applicants as specified in the advertisement shall be maintained on the merit basis for the respective reserved quota as well. Candidates selected for admission will have to appear before the Medical Boards as organised by the respective Institute of Health/ Medical Technology.
